table / cloth

to the TABLE / from the CLOTH is RIOT SOUP's latest exhibition and a celebration of two new members joining our collective.

Terna Jogo will be showcasing photography from her Life in Stills series, which was conceived as a visual love letter to Nigerian cuisine and at its heart is about deepening her connection to her heritage. Through imaginative arrangements, photographed using sunlight, her images capture the rich textures of everyday and celebratory dishes. Through this series, she engages with the histories, cosmologies and rituals embedded within Nigerian culture and invites viewers to find both the familiar and the new in ingredients shared across cultures.

Imogen Patel will be presenting textile and mixed media works that explore how Indian fabrics carry memory, resistance and self-expression within diasporic communities. Her layered compositions weave together domestic materials and images of personally significant landscapes, exploring inherited cultures, post-colonial legacies and the realities of being a British-Asian woman. These works create conversations around belonging while reflecting her own journey of cultural return and reclamation.

Both artists are connected by their shared curiosity around heritage, identity and belonging. Through their distinct mediums they remind us that culture lives and is preserved in the everyday, and while their work is deeply personal, their reflections resonate far beyond their own stories.
